Borve (Na Buirgh) is a quieter beach on the west coast of the Isle of Harris, between Nisabost and Scarista. It gets a fraction of the visitors that Luskentyre draws, which for many people is precisely the point: on most days outside high summer you will have the sand largely to yourself.
Getting there
Borve is signposted off the A859 south of Nisabost, with a short road down towards the shore and limited parking near the end. The village of Borve sits behind the machair, so park considerately and do not block passing places or croft access.
What to expect
The beach faces west into the Atlantic with views out towards Taransay, backed by dunes and machair that flowers through June and July. It is open water with no facilities and no lifeguard. Check the tide times below before walking the full length of the sand.
