Nisabost (Niseaboist) is a west-facing beach on the Isle of Harris between Horgabost and Borve, below the community centre at Talla na Mara. It is one of the best places on the island to watch the sun go down, because the whole bay looks straight out past Taransay into the open Atlantic.
Getting there and what is nearby
Nisabost is signposted off the A859 and the drive down is short. Talla na Mara, a community-owned centre with a restaurant and gallery, stands on the rise above the beach and is the only place along this stretch of coast where you can eat with the view in front of you.
MacLeod’s Stone
On the headland above the north end of the beach stands MacLeod’s Stone (Clach MhicLeoid), a single standing stone around three metres tall, thought to date from the Bronze Age. It is a short uphill walk from the road and the view from beside it, back down over the sands, is worth the climb on its own.
